What is the Good News of the Gospel?

The Gospel means “good news” which is the perfect name for the following reasons:

First, we want to tell you that we all need a Savior because we are all guilty of breaking the holy law of God, in other words, we are all sinners. This law is in part what we call the ten commandments which includes laws such as do not lie, do not steal, honor your parents, etc and is stored in all of our hearts. When we break one item in the law it makes us guilty of breaking the entire law which makes us sinners and rebels against a Holy God. It is impossible to live a holy life because no person is good, not even one. We all are born with a sinful nature and with the inclination to break God’s law because it’s our nature, a nature that we inherited from Adam (the first man). This means that we all live in the darkness of sin and we all need a Savior, someone who can take the punishment in our place.

Second, the Savior that we mentioned above is the Son of God, the Messiah, who took on flesh by being born of a virgin and lived a perfect life without breaking any of God’s law. At the end of His life, He was crucified by His people and died at the cross, but after three days and three nights, God raised Him by His Spirit and then He showed Himself to more than 500 people for 40 days after which He ascended into Heaven. Now He is seated at the right hand of God and is preparing the way to return.

Third, we need to be rescued and saved by His sacrifice on the cross. The fact is that all humans will have to give accounts to the Creator when we die. We will have to present ourselves in front of a living God and receive what we justly deserve, Heaven or Hell. The problem is that because God is Holy and Just, He cannot allow any person who broke His law to enter His Kingdom (heaven) nor cannot let anyone go without receiving the just payment for their actions. Therefore, if we broke the law, just once, then we are guilty. The payment for a guilty verdict is an eternity in the lake of fire, which was originally prepared for the devil and his angels, but now because of our disobedience, we can also be placed there.

Finally, even though we disobeyed God, His son Jesus Christ, willingly took upon Himself the punishment that we deserved for our sins when He died on the cross. He took our place and took upon Himself the wrath of God that we deserved. That whoever believes in Him will not perish and instead have eternal life. When we believe in our hearts that God has raised Him from the dead and confess Him as Lord, we become a new creation in Christ. His righteousness is imputed to us and declares us righteous, and by this, we have peace with God. This salvation is a free gift from God, which we can receive in our lives. This is not about how good or bad we are, since we are all bad, but about placing all our trust and faith in Him (Jesus) who paid the price for you. This decision will change your life, your old self will die off and your new self will become a Child of God.

We hope that you are able to take some time off from your life to read this information and read the book of John in your new Bible or any Bible that you may have in your home. There is nothing to lose but much to gain in God’s message; Eternal life in Jesus Christ.

If you have any questions about who is Jesus Christ and what He did for us or what the Bible tells us about salvation and going to heaven or any other question, we are here to help you in any way we can.
